Similar to bad weather tore through the northwest the prior day, Manchester City blew the visitors aside at the Etihad Stadium. It was a display that clearly signaled their championship potential as they consolidated their standing at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Setbacks for Manchester United

This outcome signalled consecutive league defeats for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since May 2024, putting them a significant margin off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions severely dented.
